Love the product, but the instructions could use improvementJun 03, 2011

There were two separate sets of instructions that were both needed for installation. Because the instructions are pictoral only, there was no referral back and forth. I figured it out, but it was more time consuming than it needed to be. Otherwise, it is a great product.

Outstanding product line. I was really very impressed with the Thule roof system, all aspects. After visiting the fit guide I knew exactly what I needed with MSRP included per part. All the bits I needed where easy enough to find; had the whole thing ordered in a matter of minutes saving about $30 off sticker , free shipping with prime PLUS since its amazon the sales tax was, shall we say absent. All in all I made out like a bandit on the purchase.
As far as installation(06 VW GTI) the instructions are a little daunting without the pieces out in front of you, but, once you visualize the installation as illustrated it's actually quite simple. By the time you've done one cross bar, you're a pro; super intuitive. Also I want to point out that you get some thoughtful extras that are left out of the product description, like very hefty clear poly-somthing sheets to actually adhere to the car preventing clear coat damage, as well as supplemental weather stripping for your door wells to help seal out the elements. Quality hardware and materials, they give you your money's worth.
Just a heads up though, the front load bar disrupts airflow over the roof line at speeds above about 40mph generating a low howling noise. You should count on buying a faring, It totally eliminates this problem plus it's so darn nice to look at.
All things considered this is a fine product- solid, intuitive, beautiful and practical; really the perfect hat for your auto. If it would be beneficial for you to carry stuff on your roof, you'll be happy with this product family.

I bought this one for my Ford Edge 2009. This works absolutely great. It is really safe, easy to install and uninstall.
Package I bought: Thule RB53 Rapid Aero Aluminum Roof Rack Load Bars (53-Inch, Set of 2), Thule 1530 Fit Kit for 480 Traverse and 480R Traverse Foot Pack, Thule Rapid Traverse Foot Pack (Set of 4), Thule 544 Lock Cylinders for Car Racks (4-Pack). Everything fits properly. I am really happy, this gives me a lot of help so that I can have plenty of options to adjust to this system. Actually I am using the: Thule 630 Ranger 90 Rooftop Cargo Bag (Rack Mounted) that is absolutely great.

I installed these with the 480 foot kit on a Range Rover Sport, and we have been very pleased. Installation was relatively easy. Anyone who has purchased Thule before knows that there isn't much in the installation manual but a few pictures. But, even without a detailed narrative of how to install the feet, they were pretty easy to get on. We used the Rapid Aero bars and really like the look of the rack system. It is very sturdy and we had no worries travelling with this system during our last trip. I would definitely recommend.

We just purchased a Volvo v50 and wanted a good roof rack for it. This is the only non rediculous rack that fits our car wich doesn't have the load bars that goes the length of the car (another $150). The system is probably awesome once it's on my car, however rediculously expensive. Just realized this foot pack needs a fit kit for another $60,- to fit it to your specific car, also if you want to actually lock the rack to your car (totally worth it, since the whole thing is $300) is another $60,-. oh and when we get the ski attachment that adds another $100,-. So total for us to be able to put some skis on the roof 450,- ...ridiculous. If our car could use any other rack without making it look silly I would totally buy that one. I'm definitly in the wrong business.
