I bought this fit kit when switching my Thule roof rack from an 09 Altima to a 2012 Honda Accord. First of all, Thule's website wasn't helpful at all when trying to find the proper kit to use. I somehow stumbled onto the proper kit from some other site. I am using the 400XT feet but Thule seems to think everyone is now using the Aero or Podium feet for some reason.
Installation should really take only about 30 minutes when changing over a roof rack from one car to another. Thule's instructions for the installation should be taken with a MAJOR grain of salt, perhaps even a 1 pound package of the stuff. That's why I took off 1 star. There were just two good measurements given in the Thule instructions: Distance from the windshield to mount the front feet and the distance from the front load bar to the back one.. If you move the feet to the suggested distance (side to side)on the load bars, you'll find it will be either too far apart or too short. My suggestion is to manually move the feet to the correct distance by eye and disregard what Thule says for this particular measurement. A helper during this part of the install would be great if one's available. The same is true with the rear load bar and foot positioning. Thule's measurement here was way off, too. OK, now that that's out of the way, let me continue... Once you're happy with the placement of the rubber foot pads, you can now attach the clamps to the underside of the door opening and to the foot. Keep in mind that the front clamps are shorter than the rear onces so be aware of the clamp numbers in the directions. At first, it seemed all the clamps were too short. But, once you insert the clamp screw and begin to ratchet it down, the clamp slides easily into place inside the foot. Once all four clamps are tightened down, you're finally in business!
This installation is the third one for this roof rack but somehow the most complicated. But, once it's finished, you can remove the entire rack, if necessary, just by unscrewing the four clamps and spreading them outward a bit. It didn't help, either, that it was about 28 degrees when I did this and my pinkies were getting numb!
A big thank you to Amazon! I am a Prime member and got this fit kit in just two days, from AZ to PA!
