completely inaccurate! took a different reading 5 times over the course of 10 minutes, ended up forcing my husband and I to take our 5 week old to the emergency room thinking he had a fever of 102.6 and he didn't have a fever at all!!!! bought 2 new thermometers today both rectal, tested against this one, the 2 new ones read the temp as 98.7 this one read the same temp as 101.7!!! DON'T BUY!!!

Nice design. Bad thermometer.Jun 27, 2009
By George Antonakos The flat bottom lets this rest stable on the table top. The button and display are in convenient spots. This would be great if the thermometer worked. Ours gave a reading about 1 out of 10 times, and it takes more like 15-20 seconds to indicate a failed reading. Given this inconsistency, I don't even trust the occasional successful reading. We then got the Vicks, which works perfectly (not as good a design though).

Best thermometer for the moneyDec 08, 2009

This thermometer is simply the best digital thermometer I have ever used. It's accurate and consistent. The only problem is that I used it so much that the battery started to drain and the readings took longer to take. The battery is almost dead now, and I can't figure out how to replace the battery. But it's less than $10, but in our green-society why would we want to throw away a whole thermometer for the sake of a dead battery?

Inconsistent Temp!Sep 24, 2009
By Linda Hill I agree with the other posters. I took my son't temp 5 times in 5 min and got readings between 100 & 102. That's a huge difference when it comes to an infant fever. Although easy to use, horribly inconsistent and inaccurate. I'm sorry we wasted our money! Don't buy this!

Horribly InaccurateSep 10, 2009
By AK We used this thermometer to monitor my son's temperature after he had received his 2 month vaccinations. The first time we took his temperature it read 101.2. I rushed out to get him some infant Tylenol drops for his "fever". We took it again a couple hours later and it registered at 99.8. We thought the Tylenol was working. Took it again...102.2. Wait, is the Tylenol working? Do we give him more medicine in another two hours? Call the doctor! Took it a third time and it was 99.0. All over the board. The exact same thing happened the next time we took his temperature. This thermometer is ridiculously inaccurate and I would recommend it to nobody!
