not worth it really...Dec 27, 2010
By J. Germain I only use this for a quick reference when I'm not sure as it reads 1-2 degrees higher then the actual temp (I have a 1yo and a 4yo and my only other thermometer is oral). You cannot find the instructions for this thing online anywhere, fortunately with a little fooling around I was able to figure out:
In the off position, pressing and holding the button changes between celcius and fareinheit (sp?)
To read temp- press button once: last temp will show on thermometer and then go to 2 lines, if no previous temp, thermometer will read LO. Wait until 2 lines or LO appear on screen, then insert into ear and press button again for your temp reading
Hope that helps people who already own this. For people who dont, I recommend finding a different thermometer.

Horrid JUNK!!Nov 20, 2010
By Cynthia I spent the night wrestling with a 18 month old who was miserable and sweaty. This piece of Junk would say "Lo" one reading then 30 seconds later when I would re-check it would say "101.3" 2 minutes later at re-check it would read "104.3" and an immediate underarm check would read "99.8" ( I know its not designed to take an axillary temp). If you dont have this PERFECTLY fitted to read the eardrum the reading is WAY off!! It is terribly hard to use on a small child and in the dark forget about it! I threw it in the trash and sent my husband to walmart at 4am. Thanks to the Vicks thermomiter we knew our daughters temp was 102.8. The middle of the night with an ill child is the WORST time to learn that this piece of medical equipment is JUNK.

highly innacurate and a battery hogJan 18, 2011

"Bandora"
The only pro is that it does indeed take a reading in 1 second. The readings are inconsistent and I don't trust them. The battery has to be replaced after just a few uses. Not recommended.

Don't buy for infantOct 02, 2010

"art25"
It's been a few months, so I no longer have the instruction booklet for this thing. So, right now it blinks between hi and lo. What ever that means. It's giving me the temperature in Celcius. The last thing you want is something that doesn't just give you the temperature in "Fahrenheit" while your fighting with a 16 month old, who does not want this thing in his ear.
And it takes FOREVER to get a reading.
It's a thermometer. How simple a device could you want. I shouldn't need instructings on how to use it.
Terrible!!!Feb 20, 2012
By Xrayqueen This thermometer was given to me at a baby shower so unfortunately I did not do any research on it. Honestly I was just excited it was an ear thermometer. Anyways, I have used it for my 9 month old his entire life. It has never registered a fever. I thought I was just lucky. Well the other day I knew my sick little sweaty boy was fevering but the thermometer repeatedly registered in the 98 degree range. I did not believe that so I took him to a clinic with this thermometer and tested him in the same ear the nurse tested with hers. I got 98.1 she got 102.8. This thing is worthless. I will never trust this brand again.
