MEINL CajonAug 10, 2011
By hippiwannabe Meinl String Cajon Black Makah-Burl
Although mine is clear light wood sides (not black) the instrument is essentially the same. This is a very fun and diverse instrument. I had seen a few musicians using this in acoustic sets and was amazed at the projection. Nice snare sound. Three distinct drum beat sounds including a deep base just using your hands or finger tips. I have seen people use a brush as well. I use this to play with friends (I am primarily an acoustic guitarist) but you can lay out a basic beat with this for a rhythm. If you have someone who wants to listen in to your jam session and can keep time, give them the Cajon. Very fun instrument and for the money a lot of bang for the buck, $160. Consider the portability plus nobody sneezes at spending 3 large on a Taylor or Martin guitar. Ordering from Amazon was a breeze as well. Shipped to my house within a week (free shipping). Youtube Meinl Cajon for a sample of the sound this box makes. This is no bongo.
Grandson loves it!Jan 26, 2012
By shabbydebbie Truly a beautiful instrument! This was a Christmas gift for my grandson and he immediately climbed up and started drumming...as did all the 'kids' (including Dads & Grandpas).
