By Leonel Hernandez "Drum Djinn"
I bought this drum for my son at a local music store and plan to buy another one for myself from Amazon (better price). Overall, this is a great drum for young beginners because it's easy to hold and very lightweight. That being said, because it is aluminum, it is a little easy to dent. After purchasing this drum I decided I wanted one for myself because it was very easy to keep this drum on my lap while driving - and tap out rhythms at stop lights or even while waiting in a parking lot while your loved one is doing some shopping. So, to me, it's like a traveller drum - small, easy to play and sounds just like a big drum - although the "dums" are little weak - but that's all relative - the bigger the drum - the bigger the "dum".

The only drawback I've found is that the drumhead that comes with the drum has a short collar. Usually Doumbeks of this design need a drumhead with a slightly longer collar so that the top metal ring sits below the event horizon of the drum head... but that's not the case, the drum head is a little recessed and what ends up happening, is that your "teks" and "ka's" will be a little tiring after a while as your fingers will come into contact with both the head and the ring. - I am looking for a solution to this by either finding a longer-collared replacement head or somehow modifiying the mounting ring.

Overall, it's a great drum at an exceptional value.
