Optics are good but missing an adjustable table for glass slidesJan 10, 2007
By Chris L The microscope is well made and the optics are pretty good. The glass slides and other bits that go along with this microscope are also well thought out and very helpful with this being my child's first microscope. However, the two biggest drawbacks are:-
1) No adjustable table for the glass slides, considering the high magnification that this device offers. That means that, at high magnifications, the slightest touch of the glass slide pretty much changes the viewing area altogether.
2) No fine tuning for focusing. Another big drawback considering the magnification that this thing can handle.
I should add that there are lots of different microscopes in the market for a wide range of prices and given that this one is on the low end of the scale, I wonder if its wishful thinking to expect to have those two drawbacks named above.

VERY POOR QUALITYAug 27, 2007
By river rat 222 We bought this for our daughter to explore the microscopic world and we could not get it to work to even start her on it. IT IS THE WORST MICROSCOPE I HAVE EVER USED. The it is near impossible for even an experienced science buff to get it focused. It will give you so much frustration and it will be a waste of money. STAY AWAY!

Good gift for childrenJan 19, 2009
By S. Ejiri The microscope itself is worth [...]. However, the material used is steel and it is stable and solid item. Not plastic cheap toy feel. The lens was much better than I thought. It comes with sample specimens so your child can start his or her experience in less than 5 minutes after the gift is opened. Nice case let my 9 years old son to keep it in his bedroom and bring it down to kitchen counter when he uses it. Over all this was good gift.

MicroscopeJan 10, 2007
By B. Kosar The scope is great for a beginner scientist. I feel this product will be useful long into middle school. My only disappointment was with the utensils. They are made of plastic and I don't feel will be capable of taking very good samples. Other than that, the girls are enjoying it.
