 Just what you need for round balustersDec 19, 2010

Works great with the DreamBaby compression-mount baby gate if one side must bear against a round (or diagonal) baluster. Ours have a flat surface at the bottom, and a round, tapered profile at the top. I use the flat, rubber-based mount at the bottom and the Y-shaped adapter at the top. A more general comment on the DreamBaby gate -- be prepared to really torque those fittings tightly to get a firm mount and to make sure the gate latch opening squeezes together to fit properly. I can do this, but my wife's hand strength isn't sufficient for her to do it. I've considered using a bar clamp to compress the the gate for easier installation. I may try this if we decide to remove the gate very frequently (we use it when the toddler grandchildren are visiting).

I have been hunting for way to install a gate for my staircase, which has a double banister at the bottom. I was worried I would have to resort to purchasing an expensive kit for each side of the banister that also would create quite an eye sore. Just as my son figured out how to crawl up my stairs I stumbled upon these adapters. I used them with the Munchkin Easy Close Metal Gate. They worked perfectly and you can hardly tell that they weren't an original part of the gate. The best part was how inexpensive they are and you don't even have to purchase them separately (like that other overpriced kit). I am only deducting one star because it is not a super-tight fit (as to be expected with the way it is designed) and there is a tiny bit of movement if you yank on the gate. What a relief to have found these!!!!

I would highly recommend this product as it is adaptable to more than just one type of baby gate. I've looked around trying to find something to secure a gate to a banister that was resonably priced, and this was it.

We purchased these adaptors for a Regalo gate hoping that they would fit. The screws for the Regalo gate are a smaller guage so we had to drill the holes slightly larger to make it fit. These adaptors would work perfectly for the gates that use the larger screws (see other reviews).

This works perfectly on my Munchkin (not Dreambaby brand) bottom of stair gate and has allowed me to avoid drilling into the bannister or purchasing expensive adapters. It just screws into the existing holes that are otherwise filled with the pressure mounts.
