 3M really is the best sandpaper out thereJan 01, 2012

As a craftsman I've used many types of sandpaper, and 3M is bar-none the best. In all the various classes of sandpaper 3M always holds up noticeably longer than any other brand, and has the most consistent grain quality. If you want to know the other papers I have compared this to specifically: Norton, and Gator. Norton gets talked up a lot, but honestly there is just no comparison to 3M when using the same comparative class of papers head-to-head.

All sandpapers are not created equal. Although 3M might seem expensive (At $1.00 or more a sheet, it is.), it's much better than some cheap imported stuff I picked up somewhere. That was useless. Pay a bit more, use each piece completely, and get the job done right.

I bought this sandpaper and it works and nicely removes out rust or other stains in my burners.

It's what you expect, gritty stuff. Always seems to wear prematurely no matter what brand you buy these days though.

I bought this thing to flatten my 1000 grit water stone and it did a very good job but i also tried to use it to sharpen my night stalker Bowie knife and it didn't do anything but scratch it since the knife is made very crappy steel.
